MATAHINA DAM
Work To Begin This Week (N Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, September 28. Nearly a million tons of material will go into the North Island’s biggest earth dam, at Matahina on the Rangitaiki river, in the final stage of construction which starts this week. The job will take three years. It consists mainly of placing the earth dam core materiel and building the shoulders. The contracting firms are Horowheriua Earthmovers, Ltd., and the Dryden Construction Company. The contractors will direct the work for the next two years and the Ministry of Works wi Uptake over for the final year. '
