Estate, Gift Duties

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. Budget concessions in estate duty, applying from June 25, are formally authorised in an Estate and Gift Duties Amendment Bill, introduced in Parliament today. The initial exemption is doubled to £4OOO. Lower duties will apply on estates of up to £48,000. In future, it will not be necessary to file gift statements with the Inland Revenue Department unless gifts, either single or aggregated, exceed £lOOO a year.
