LATE NIGHT SITTINGS
Limit Sought By Labour (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. A move to limit the number of late night sittings by Parliament will be made tomorrow by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nordmeyer). He will'attempt to have the House agree to a proposal that no votes on the Estimates be brought up for consideration after -10 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, or after 4 p.m. on Fridays. Laughter came from the Government benches when Mr Nordmeyer told the House today he intended to put forward a motion to add sueh a restriction to Standing Orders. No restriction would be placed on discussion of estimates already before the House when 10 p.m. or 4 p.m. was reached, he said. The Government’s reaction caused Mr R. J. Tizard (Opp.; Pakuranga) to comment: “What idiotic laughter.”
