TRADESMEN NEEDED
(.v.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Sept. 28. Auckland's building industry, faced with the responsibility of building for another half-million people in the next 20 years, has to “think bigger” than it has ever done before, said the president of the Auckland Council of the Building Industry (Mr N. E. Pollard) at the opening of its building symposium today. Mr Pollard said he believes manufacturing companies were “tooling up” to keep pace with the city's startling growth, but he did not think the training of building technicians and skilled tradesmen was sufficient for the present, let alone for the future.
