Mother M. M. Canty
(From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT, Sept 29. One of a group of Sisters of Mercy who, came to the Buller and Inangahua districts from New South Wales about 60 years ago to establish the order, Mother Mary Magdalen Canty, died at Westport on Monday after a long illness. She worked hard as a teacher for many years in the early Roman Catholic schools at Westport but for some years past was sister in charge of the O'Conor home, where she endeared herself to the aged and the sick by her untiring devotion. Sister Mary Gonzaga, who came to Westport with Mother Mary Magdalen, is still with the order at the Westport convent
