Obituary MISS N. NYSTRAM
A well known and respected Lyttelton resident, Miss Mabel Nystram, died on Saturday. She was 63. Miss Nystram had been ill for some time. Born in Lyttelton, Miss Nystram lived at the port all her life. She was a foundation member of the nursing division of the St John Ambiance in Lyttelton and became nursing superintendent in 1936, a post she. held for 17 years. In 1957, Miss Nystram was made serving sister, and received her medallion from the Governor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie). She was a foundation member of the women’s division of the Oddfellows Lodge at the port and served as Grand Master of the Lyttelton district for several years. Until her illness, Miss Nystram took an active part in all the organisations she joined and was a member of the St John’s Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two sisters.
