CLEARANCE OF MAIL
Explanation By P.O. (N Z. Press Association! WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. A Post Office spokesman today commented on the recent Press Association report from ■Christchurch that police had intercepted letters at Christchurch while investigating the circumstances of an explosion at a house there. The spokesman said: “What happened was that the police, believing that a letter had been posted by Mr Nota in a letter box near his house, asked the Post Office to make a special clearance of the box and to deliver the letter to where it was addressed immediately.
“This was done. There was, therefore, no interception of mail by the police.”
