Chess TELEGRAPHIC MATCH
Canterbury And Otago Equal Otago and Canterbury were equal with four points each when play finished in their inter-provincial Bledisloe Cup telegraphic chess match on Saturday. The Canterbury captain (A. S. Hollander) said he expected even pegging on the unfinished games, which will be sent for adjudication to a North Island club. If the points are In fact equal, the match will probably go to Canterbury on the countback. Among the adjournments was the top-board game, G. G. Haase (Otago) v. L. Esterman, in tvhich Esterman was in a winning position with a piece up. Results (Otago names first: Otago white on odd boards) were: Haase v. Esterman adjourned: I. D. Hayes 4, A. J. Nyman 4: M.
