WANGANUI, Sept. 28. Although a wide range of designs had been submitted for New Zealand's decimal coins, there were some which had been necessarily unacceptable, said the Under-Secretary to the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon), chairman of the Select Committee on Decimal Coinage.
Among designs received as being typical of New Zealand life, he said, had been one showing Don Clarke’s boot and another depicting crossed beer bottles. “I’m not even sure if we didn’t get one showing racehorses galloping past a finishing post,” he said.
