ISLEWORTH RD. DRAINAGE
Board Member's Inspection Between 14 and 16 houses in Isleworth road, Burnside, were seriously affected by the lack of sewerage, said Mr M. R. Carter, a member of the Christchurch Drainage Board, Mr Carter inspected some of the properties on Saturday With Waimairi County Council health officials at the invitation of residents. Mr Carter said one or two houses had septic tanks, but most had sullage pits, and in many cases the ground was of such a nature that there was little or no soakage. He said the Isleworth road area had stage three priority for drainage and sewerage, and this meant it would have to wait 18 months or two years. As the district’s representative on the board he would continue to press for the work to be done. Mr Carter said the residents planned to make another approach to the board after the election.
