‘Gruesome’ Title

(Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Sept. 9. Miss M. B. Howard (Opp., Sydenham) told Parliament tonight she wished the Minister of Health (Mr McKay) had found a different name for the Human Tissues Bill. “It’s a bit gruesome, isn’t it,” she said. The measure authorises the removal of human tissue from bodies for medical purposes. Mr McKay admitted there had been difficulty in finding a suitable name for the measure. “But we feel the present title is more descriptive of the contents.” The bill was given a second reading.
