FOLLOW-ON ENFORCED
Trueman’s Bid Just Fails (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SCARBOROUGH, Sept 8. Australia enforced the follow-on when it led T. N. Pearce’s XI by 152 runs on the first innings in the festival cricket match at Scarborough yesterday. Pearce’s XI was all out for 248 in reply to Australia’s total of 400, and at the close was 153 for three. F. S. Trueman made a brave bld to save the follow-on, slogging 43 runs in 35 minutes, but the Australians took the new ball with the last pair at the wicket and thwarted the attempt.
