N.Z. SNOOKER
Napper Has Good Win L. Napper (Otago) continued on his "gtant-kiiring” way in the New Zealand snooker championships when he beat W. Harcourt (Wellington), 3-0, yesterday. In last week's billiards title Napper defeated the six times champion, A. Twohlll. Harcourt won the snooker title last year. The number one seed. Harcourt played well, but Napper • potting and all-round control was as good as any yet seen tn tbe competition. Harcourt and Napper are now In the unenviable position of awaiting a summary of the aggregate points to determine which player goes into the quarter-finals. T. Yesberg (Canterbury!, winner of the billiards championship, overcame another hurdle when he accounted for T. Wade (Southland). 3 0. Should Yesberg win the anooker. he will become the second player in the history of the game In New Zealand to complete the double. L. Stout (Wellington) performed thia feat in 1352. R. Watson (Canterbury) went within an ace of beating th* redoubtable Aucklander. K. Tristram. He won ths first frame on the black, lost the second In the earns fashion, and fought back to win ths fourth after being 1-3 down. But the strain in the deciding game proved too much for hlra Watson, however, did prove that Tristram can be beaten with an astute use of defensive tactics. R. Franks (Canterbury) hart a comfortable win over M. Reid (Wellington) in the final game of the day, but his potting still lacks the brilliance that gained him two titles. Detailed results were:— V. Hlku 3 (60. 80. 48). B Symon 0 (46. 26, 42); T. Yesberg 3 (83, 71, 58), T. Wade 0 (36, 36, 59); G. Logan 3 (52, 52, •»>. P. Conners 0 (32, 41, 38): B. Klrkness 3 (53, 78, 56), R.
