Power Failure Delays Trains
Three passenger trains on the Christchurch - Lyttelton line were delayed by a power failure from 8.40 p.m. to 9.45 p.m. yesterday. The Railways Department used Christchurch Transport Board buses to bring about 90 passengers, mainly watersidere, from Lyttelton. One train running to Christchurch was delayed at Opawa for 30 minutes until a diesel locomotive from Lyttelton arrived to push it to Christchurch.
The other services were resumed when power was restored.
