Union Talks On Crews fN.Z. Press Asseciation) WELLINGTON, Sept 1. Discussions on the New Zealand manning of the coastal oil tanker trade to New Zealand ports from the Marsden Point refinery would be held with the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) on Thursday week, the secretary of the Federated Seamen’s Union (Mr L. A. Barber) said today. His union and the cooks’ and stewards’ union would press their claims for this coastal trade to be carried out by New Zealand workers, he said.
The meeting would be attended by oil company representatives and was intended to be the first of similar meetings to discuss the position.
