Gift To City For Vegetarian Home

A substantial bequest to the Christchurch City Council to establish a convalescent or rest home to be run on vegetarian lines is gpde in ttokswill of Johas-Younc, a retired farmer, ofXhristchurch, who died on August 15. Marlborough, Nelson, and Westland division of the New Zealand branch of the British Cancer Campaign Society, and the Taylor’s Mistake Surf Life-saving Club.

The major beneficiaries under the will of Rhoda Stern, a widow, of Christchurch, who died on August 24, are the New Zealand Crippled Children Society and the Mission to Lepers. The Supreme Court recently granted probate of the will, the estate being sworn at under £5OOO. After payment of two private bequests totalling £2OO the estate is to be divided equally between the two charities.
