RICCARTON RD. GARAGE
Planners Oppose Application The erection of a garage and service station at the north-west corner of Hgrakeke street and Riccarton road, a property zoned residential A, was Opposed by the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority yesterday. The application for a departure from the Riccarton district scheme is also being opposed by the Riccarton Borough Council.
Riccarton road was a major arterial traffic route and should be protected from development of a nature likely to interfere with the free flow of traffic, the executive reported to the authority. A new service station and garage on the site would have a detrimental effect on the traffic flow.
