Oil Search Subsidised

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CANBERRA, Aug. 31. Thirteen oil search subsidies, worth £112,665, had been approved during July, said the Minister for National Development (Mr D. E. Fairbairn). Another four subsidies had been approved, but the amounts had yet to be determined, he said. Fourteen of the subsidy applications approved under the Petroleum Search Subsidy Act were for drilling operations and three for geophysical surveys. Mr Fairbairn said that during July five applications for additional subsidies were approved. Four amounted to £33,856. The fifth had yet to be determined. Mr Fairbairn said the July approvals increased the total of oil search subsidies granted by the Commonwealth to £17.2 million.
