ITALIAN TANKER

An Italian tanker, the Marinella D’Amico now discharging white oil, kerosene and aviation spirit at Lyttelton, Is a five-year-old diesel, single-screw tanker owned by Soc. Armtorlale Lilibeo, S.P.A. Part of her cargo, part loaded at Abadan and the balance at Altona Refinery (Melbourne), has been discharged at Auckland and Wellington. In addition to the Italian ship’s company, there are two animals aboard. They are .both from Hong Kong. Catherina, the cat, belongs to Mr Giuseppe MareSca, the chief engineer. Charlie, the dog, belongs to Mrs Lucclana Cortecci, ’ the chief officer’s wife. These animals are not allowed ashore in New Zealand. Captain A. Mitrano from Gaeta (Italy) commands the tanker which has a gross tonnage of 12,982 tons and a dead-weight capacity of 19,367 tons. She is expected to sail for Adelaide today.
