Gas Bombs Thrown

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEW YORK, August 31 Three petrol bombs were last night tossed at a lower East Side tenement building containing Negroes in an area where Puerto Ricans and Negroes have been feuding. They were tossed from the second floor window of a building across the street from the intended target. The police fired four shots at the window, none of them effective. The police apprehended two Puerto Ricans, one a teenager and the other about 40. Police said they would be charged with arson. The Molotov cocktails—soda bottles containing petrol—fell short of their mark and burst harmlessly into flames on the footpath.
