BOOTHBY TO SUE

‘Reputation At Stake’ (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, August 31. Lord Boothby, who got £40,000 in a settlement from the “Daily Mirror” group last month, is to sue the German magazine “Stern,” says the “Evening Standard.” The 64-year-old peer is mentioned in an article headed “Lord Bobby on the spot.” Photographs appeared with the article. Lord Boothby said at his London home today: “It is not a question of money. My reputation is at stake because this magazine has such a wide circulation throughout Europe.”

Lord Boothby told the “Evening News” he had instructed his solicitors to take action against “Stern” and added: “There was a pretty awful article in last week’s issue. It . was far worse than anything else that has appeared. “1 want to assure you that any damages 1 get will go to Scottish charities.” He said that after the settlement with the “Daily Mirror” group he gave £5OOO to the King Edward VII Hospital in London. “I don’t want people to get the impression that I’m gold-digging. The German article was terribly damaging,” he said.
