Two Canoeists, Girl Found (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 31. An amphibian aircraft ended a search for two missing canoeists in the Hauraki Gulf this morning, almost before it had begun. The aircraft, piloted by Captain F. P. Dadd, discovered the missing men paddling their 17ft kayak canoe across Hooks Bay, Waiheke Island, after sleeping the night ashore. The canoeists, Dr. V. C. Martin, of Auckland, and Mr I. Dow, of Maungaturoto, were heading for a house to tell the police that they were not lost on their voyage to Ponui Island. Captain Ladd was taking a party of 15. men to work on Pakatoa Island when he saw

the canoe. Later he landed beside them. They had heard the radio notice of a search and were on their way to a telephone. Lost In Bush A Blenheim report says a girl who was lost after spending last night in dense bush above Curious Cove, Queen Charlotte Sound, was found by search party members at 8.30 this morning. She was Lynette Griffin, aged 16, of Upper Hutt, who had become lost in the bush while trying to make her way out of the cove after making the round trip to 2095 ft Kahikatea peak. The search party, including 14 boys and two instructors from the Cobham Outward Bound School, started their search at first light.
