TRADE FAIR RECORD
Many Orders, Visitors (N. 7.. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 30. The number of persons who attended the International Trade Fair at Wellington on Saturday was a record. More than 31,000 persons bought tickets during the 12 hours the fair was open, the fair manager (Mr C. W. Halliwell) said this evening. Saturday’s attendance brought the total of visitors to the fair for the first week to 135,000. This was about 25,000 above the figure for the first week of the last fair, Mr Halliwell said.
A spokesman for the Australian stand said orders totalling £70,000 had been received during the first week. The success of Australian businessmen operating in the pavilion has exceeded all expectations. Good results have been reported by almost all of the 50 exhibitors.
