Social Security Benefits

Sir, —Someone once said, “The more I see of my fellow men, the more I love my dog.” Did he have “Far Back Dan” in mind? The type that literally bites the hand that feeds them. As “Man’s Ingratitude” aptly reminds us, the Labour Government introduced social security in the face of opposition and ridicule. Sir Sydney Holland predicted it would fall of its own weight. My political outlook is entirely unbiased, but let us give credit where due. In any case, whichever party is in power the durability of the. taxpayer has to be considered. There are other avenues of Governmental income, we know, but manipulation of these to increase revenue will also increase costs to the consumer.—Yours, etc., W.T.F. August 27. 1964.

It is fair to ask of every one a reason for the faith within.—Mary Baker Eddy.
