No Legislation Contemplated GV.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. It was preferred not to resort to legislation to control cigarette and tobacco advertising, the Minister of Health (Mr McKay) told Parliament. Mr McKay said tobacco companies had stopped radio and television advertising and had voluntarily placed restrictions on advertisements aimed at young people. . There were also education campaigns against smoking. Mr P. Blanchfieid (Opp,, Westland) had asked Mr McKay if he had replied to the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, on its request to the Government to prohibit the advertising of cigarettes and tobacco.
