MOVING A TREE.—The centre of Burnley, the Lancashire cotton town, is being planted with mature trees, mostly about 40 years old. The trees are being pulled out of the ground at a private woodland at Edlington, near Doncaster. Two cranes are used, to give an equal pull on each side, and an average tree, with roots still embedded in a clump of soil, weighs three tons. One of the trees is shown being planted in Burnley after being carried 80 miles.
