Under the sponsorship of the Medical Research Council and the United States Public Health Service, the Department Includes In its research programme a research group carrying out an extensive series of experimental studies on autoimmune disease and the new appointee will join this group. A background training in bidlogical subjects, therefore, would be an advantage, although this is not regarded as essential. The group is under the direction of an Associate-Professor and has a staff of a Senior Medical Research Officer, Scientific Research Officer and six technicians. The appointee will have similar status to an Assistant Lecturer (Science) on the wholetime teaching staff and the salary offered will be within a present range £9OO-£llOO x £5O (under review), the initial salary being determined by the qualifications and previous experience of the successful candidate.
