U.K.MOVETO BAN FIGHT
Opposition To Clay, Liston (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, August 25. The British Boxing Board of Control has joined in the campaign to outlaw the proposed return world heavyweight championship fight between Cassius Clay, the holder, and Sonny Liston. In a letter to the World Boxing Association, Mr J. Onslow Fane,.president of the British board, has expressed strong views against the fight being allowed to take place. Mr E. J. Waltham, secretary of the British board, said yesterday: “Almost every ruling body In boxing has now refused to recognise the fight —New York, Europe and ourselves included. “We are asking the W.B.A. which controls the sport in a large number of American States not to allow any of their members to stage it If they stand together the fight cannot go on anywhere in the world.’’
