WINNER LOSSES NO POINTS

Ashburton Club Car Rally

D. W. Watson, of the University Motor Club, won the Ashburton Car Club's inter-club Lupp Cup rally on Saturday evening with a clean sheet: he lost no points during the 126mile event. The greatest loss of points for any one competitor was 497, and R. Munns, who finished second, lost nine points. The team prize, which counts towards the Lupp Cup and decides which club will hold It for the ensuing year, was won by the M.G. Car Club, with the Rallies and Trials Enthusiasts' Club second and the University Motor Club third.

The event drew 19 entries, and the route passed through the Seafield, Ashburton, Westerfield. Alford Forest, and Lyndhurst areas. All the cars completed the course without difficulty, but the organisers said the fine weather made many of the averages seem low. R. Munns, of the M.G. Car Club, was second, and L. H. Cromie, of the Ashburton club, was third.

The finishing order of the other competitors was: G. .1. Owen, A. Hadler, M. C. Corsble, B. Sharp, C. T. Holme, W. Sharp, P. J. Capon. R. Keating, C. J. Thompson, Miss B. A. Armstrong, N. Tupper, N. L. Rowe, D. C. Gilbert. S. A. Moore, and H. Coussell.
