C.V.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISTOL, July 18. France’s tennis team fought back from the edge of defeat on Saturday to beat Britain, 3-2, for a place in the Davis Cup European zone final. P. Darmon, after being two sets down, beat M. J. Sangster, 8-10, 3-6, 6-4, 8-6, 6-2 to square the series at two matches all. Then P. Barthes, aged 22, outplayed left-hander, W. Knight, 64, 64, 6-1, to clinch victory. France had not reached the zone final since 1956. Britain was last year’s zone champion. France will meet the winner of the Sweden-Germany semi-final being played at Baastad, Sweden.
