PLEASURE CRAFT

Purau Plan Of Moorings

The harbourmaster (Captain A. R. Champion) had produced a plan showing that more than 270 moorings could be made available at Purau for pleasure craft, said Mr L. G. Amos, chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s slipways and small craft committee, yesterday. In addition, lanes could be provided for water ski-ing at Purau.

The plan had still to be .approved by the committee and the board, Mr Amos emphasised, but he said it showed an answer to the problems of yacht owners who could not get moorings in the congested inner harbour. In the meantime, Captain Champion has gone ahead with preparation for moorings for 16 craft. These belong to persons who were on a waiting list fo'r inner harbour moorings.
