Movement Formed (N.Z. Press Association) ■ WELLINGTON, June 30. A “hands off the Tongariro and surroundings movement” was formed in Wellington last evening by a group of prominent citizens from all walks of life, says a supplied statement. Mr Peter McIntyre was elected president. “Public support for the move to stop the desecration of our national playgrounds has been so great that we decided it was worth forming this movement,” said Mr McIntyre today. “We are confident of gaining the support of citizens throughout the country.
