Start Made On Museum
The first response to a request from the Canterbury Rugby Union for material for a Rugby museum at Lancaster Park has come from Mr A. S. Christie.
He offered a programme of a match between a New Zealand Army team and the French Army which was played at Twickenham on April 19, 1919. Some of the members of the New Zealand team were J. Stohr, J. Moffat, W. Fea. P. Storey, A. West and M. Bellis.
Mr W. D. Johnstone told a meeting of the management committee that he had been offered a cap of the 1880 vintage. “Well, it is a start.” said Mr J. O. Hattersley (chairman).
Permission was given for a match to be played at Southbridge on July 19 between Cantabrians and a Southbridge invitation XV. The proceeds of the match will go to Tony Freeman, whose family was killed In a railway accident in January t
