Appointment
A Samoan minister, the Rev. Kenape Salapoese, has been appointed to assist the Rev. D. J. Inglis of the Trinity Congregational Church, and to lead the Congregational Samoan community which worships at the church.
Mr Salapoese is expected to take up his position m Christchurch at the beginning of the next year. He will be the third Congregational Samoan minister to be called to New Zealand after completing his training at the New Zealand Congregational College, Auckland, the other two ministers being in Wellington and Auckland respectively. Married with three children, Mr Salapoese trained at the Malua Theological College in Samoa before coming to New Zealand for extra training. In 1950 he completed his studies and returned to Western Samoa to instruct at Malua College, where he is now the acting principal. His work in Christchurch will be with the Samoan community in the city as well as with the growing number of Samoans throughout the South Island.
