Hit On Head By Sign-board
A heavy sign-board outside the State Coal Depot at 178 Manchester street fell and hit a man walking along the path yesterday morning. The man, Mr D. A. Smith, of 43 Landy street, a clerk in the Railways Department, was hit on the side of the head He was taken to the Christchurch Hospital by a St. John ambulance and discharged after treatment.
The sign board had accidentally been knocked by the back of a van shortly before it fell.
