J. FAIRFAX PURCHASE
ATV Interests Bought (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright > SYDNEY, June 28. John Fairfax, Ltd., announced in-Sydney today that it had purchased the Australian investments of Associated Television, Ltd., of London. The purchase involves substantial interests in radio and television stations in Australia, and will require the consent of the Federal Government.
The sale includes the transfer of interests in the Macquarie broadcasting network, radio stations 2GB Sydney, 3AW Melbourne, SDN Adelaide, 2CA Canberra, 2WL Wollongong, 2LF Young, and 2LT Lithgow, and television stations ATN Sydney, QTQ Brisbane, NWS Adelaide, CTN Canberra, BTY Ballarat, RTN Richmond, WIN Woollongong, CBN Orange, and RVN Wagga.’
Associated Television of London—one of the world’s largest producers of television programmes—retains its programme distribution organisation in Australia. It will continue to deal independently with all television stations.'
