Lema Wins This Time

Tony Lema won his third rich golf tournament in a month today, beating Arnold Palmer with a birdie on the first hole of a sudden-death play-off in' the Cleveland Open. They had tied with 72-hole scores of 270. Lema and Palmer also tied in the Cleveland Open last vear, along with Tommy Aaron, with 72-hole scores of 273. Palmer won that playoff.
Lema recently won the Thunderbird and Buick golf tournaments, and in January took the Bing Crosby tournament.
Lema had a six-under-par 65 in today’s final round, against Palmer’s 68 and won 20.000 dollars. Palmer won 12.000 dollars.
Jack Nicklaus and Terry Dill tied for third place on 272. Nicklaus had a final round of 70 and Dill a 66 South Africa’s Gary Plaver scored 273. R. J. Charles fNew Zealand), finished with 281 after a fourth-round 69.
