Appeal Hearing Begun
Mr Justice Wilson began bearing in the Supreme Court yesterday an appeal by Kevin Ellis Twomey, a former Customs officer, against his conviction and sentence on 15 charges of being knowingly concerned in the importation of uncustomed goods. Twomey was convicted and lined £375 in the Magistrate’s Court last March.
Mr C. M. Roper appeared for the Crown, and Mr R. Stacey, of Wellington, for Twomey. Submissions were made by both counsel yesterday, and the hearing will be continued today.
