Geiberger 64, One Stroke Ahead

CLEVELAND, June 26.
A. Geiberger, an American professional, scored six birdies in the last 10 holes for a seven-under-scratch 64 in the first round of the 100,000-dollar Cleveland- Open Golf tournament yesterday.
Tony Lema and George Bayer were , close on his heels at 65 as the leading players found the 6821-yard Highland Park course a par-breaker’s P More than 50 of the field of 149 professionals battling for the • 20,000-dollar first prize, and 10 amateurs were under the regulation 71 figure. Tied in fourth place at 66
were Billy Casper, George Archer; Ray Floyd and Harold Kneece.
Next came a bunch of eight players, including the defending champion, Arnold Palmer, a* 67. Jack Nicklaus was in a group of 10 at 68.
One stroke more were the South African, Gary Player, R. J. Charles (New Zealand), Julius Boros, Doug Sanders aad Mike Souchak.
