£80,000 FOR SOCCER
Plan To Boost Aust. Game (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, June 25. A two-stage campaign to promote soccer in Australia, at a cost of nearly £BO,OOO, was announced last night by the secretary of the Australian Soccer Federation (Mr R. Clarke).
The campaign will be a combined operation by a group of Australian companies, the International Federation and the English Football Association.
The first stage will be a nation-wide newspaper and television advertising campaign costing an estimated £60,000, Mr Clarke said. The second stage, national courses for referees and coaches, would start in September. Lecturers will include Sir Stanley Rous, chairman of F.1.F.A., Mr Walter Winterbottom, the former England team manager, Professor M. Andrejevish, of Yugoslavia, and Dr. O. Bprassi, of Italy.
