Threat Of Flooding (N Z. Press Assn. —Copyrights SYDNEY, June 26. About 150 of the 200 workers at the New South Wales Lithgow State Mine will be dismissed because millions of gallons of water behind a relatively thin barrier of coal threaten to flood the mine. This year the mine has been producing at the rate of 5000 tons of coal a week (260,000 tons in a full year). The water rushed into an adjoining mine at the rate of 50m gallons an hour during severe floods in the Lithgow area, about 75 miles west of Sydney, earlier this month.
