sharebroker, Sir lan Potter, has begun the lan

Potter Foundation for charity with a gift of nearly £lm.

The foundation, to operate along similar lines to the United States charity foundations, was registered in Melbourne today. Sir lan Potter made the original donation of 538,000 shares in two investment and development companies sponsored by his broking house.

These had a market value of about £996,300 on the Melbourne Stock Exchange today. Five governors will adminster the fund; They are: Sir lan Potter, Mr C. R. Darval, the general manager of the Australia and New Zealand Bank, Ltd., Professor S. Sutherland, professor of neurology at Melbourne University, Mr I. W. Wark, the executive officer of the C.5.1.R.0., and Mr R. J. McArthur, a solicitor. Sir lan Potter said tonight that the fund would support a wide range of charities.
