Warning On Meat Funds

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 25. A warning that the meat Industry should not throw away its reserve funds too cheaply was given to the annual meeting of the meat and wool council of Federated Farmers by the chairman of the Meat Board (Sir John Ormond) today. Instead of keeping ahead of inflation, the £40,000,000 was staying put, he said. On some investments the industry was losing money. In terms of pounds, shillings and pence the industry should be a lot better off and the fund should automatically be worth £50.000,000.

It was right that the electoral college should know of what was happening in regard to the funds at this stage so that the question could be discussed at greater length in August when the annual meeting would be held.
