Overseas Woods Sought a
Representations to increase the allocations of import licences for timber, especially mahogany, would be made to the Department of Industries and Commerce by the New Zealand Furniture Manufacturers’ Federation, said the federation’s president. (Mr. C. Renwick, of Auckland) in Christchurch yesterday. The imported timbers, said Mr Renwick, were badly needed, for furniture-making. The industry was faced with a serious problem in obtaining sufficient imported timbers.
