Fewer Births, More Deaths
There were 53 fewer births recorded in Christchurch this month than in May last year. Figures for the year so far are also less—2343, compared with 2445 in 1963. There were 17 more deaths In the five months of this year than m the same period last year, out this month, at 223, the figure was less than the 234 of May, 1963. Thirty-four couples have been married by the registrar this month—less than in May, 1963, but 187 are recorded for the year, 17 more than for the same period in 1963. One hundred and thirty-five marriage notices were issued for the month, compared with 145 in May last I year. Nine hundred ani thirty-1 four have been issued for the five months of this year, 878! being issued for the same! period last year.
