Wool Scheme On Trial

(N.Z. Press Association)

GISBORNE, May 28. “No doubt the New Zealand Wool Board and the International Wool Secretariat are well aware of the critical regard that the Vines scheme for wool promotion will receive from growers during the initial five-year period, and of the anxiety of the contributing bodies as to its success,” stated Mr S. D. Reeves, provincial president of Federated Farmers, addressing the annual conference yesterday. “It will be a testing time for the scheme, and on its success will depend the future support that growers will be prepared to grant,” he said. The proposals call for contributions by three woolproducing nations amounting to £13,000,000 a year.
