CHARGE PROVED

Race Placings Changed

(N.Z. Press Association)

NEW PLYMOUTH, May 29.

The Taranaki District Committee <>day found a charge proved against the owner of Banditti, the horse which won the Pukekura Trial Handicap at the Taranaki Jockey Club’s meeting at New Plymouth on March 4. The committee found that Mr E. A. Johnston, of Huntly. had failed to take reasonable precautions to ensure that Banditti did not have administered to it a drug affecting its speed and stamina. No penalty was imposed. The horse was disqualified and the placings in the race altered accordingly. A similar charge against the trainer of the horse, Mr J. R. Gillies, of Huntly, was proved. He was fined £lO.
