Good Victorian Trotting Year (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, May 28. More than £AII million was invested on trotting meetings at the Melbourne Show Ground? in the. Reason Just finished, according to th? Melbourne “Herald.” In addition £A2.25 million has been channelled through the Totalisator Agency Board and the on-course totalisators on country meetings. Apart from the Increased betting, attendances at the Show Grounds meetings also increased steeply. Trotting Control Board officials said attendahces had increased by 19.42 per cent and stakes by ,33.1 per cent. Total stakes in the year amounted to £A188,710. The aggregate attendance for the 37 meetings in the season just closed was 531,093, compared with 444,712 in the previous season.

On-course totalisators handled £A1,628,519 (£A1,374,531), the T.A.B. £A3,460,684 ’ (£A2,239,493) and bookmakers £A6,005,772 (£A5,249,371). For the country circuit which is still operating, oft course betting through the T.A.B. and on course totalisator betting total £A2,256,900 (£A772,000 for the comparable period in 196263). Bookmakers’ returns for the country meetings are not yet available.

Mulley To Ride Gabadan

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, May 28: The top Sydney jockey, A. Mulley, will have the mount on the New Zealand-bred colt, Gabadan, in the Two-year-old Handicap at Rosehill on Saturday. Gabadan, which cost 3000 gns as a yearling at the Trentham National Sales, is trained in Sydney by R. Roden. Gabadan; which ran a sound trial at Rendwick today—half a mile in 49J sec—has had only one previous race start. In that race at Warwick Farm on May 16, he ran third.
