Saving Farms From Towns

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 28. The Department of Agriculture was conducting an inquiry into ways of conserving good farmland from the encroachments of urban development, the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Taiboys) told the Waitemata County Council in a letter today. “The inquiry is under way and will cover not only the rapidly-growing Auckland urban area, but other parts of the country,” he said. “It will be a comprehensive investigation. The department will seek the aid of other departments and also of organisations, such as local authorities and farming bodies.”
