Asian Students At Amberley
Twenty-two Asian students and one African were entertained by the Amberley Young Wives Group on the day of its May meeting. The visit was arranged through the Victoria League Hospitality Committee and the International Club of the University of Canterbury. Most of the students were from Warwick House, a university hostel, though some lived in private lodgings. The party consisted of Malaysians, Fijians and a student from Tanganyika. The New Zealand students and two representatives of the Victoria League accompanied the party. After morning tea at the home of Mr and Mrs P. Petersen the students were taken in members’ cars to various farms in the district where they were shown items of interest. Lunch and afternoon tea were served by group members at Teviotdale, the home of Mr and Mrs G. D. Greenwood.
